- Vehicle manufacturers have more or less agreed that the Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) is the way forward when it comes to cleaning up the emissions of diesel engines. But the DPF has a problem, and it's one that affects not only the Isuzu models we're talking about here, but pretty much all vehicles that use the technology.

The Isuzu DPD (Diesel Particulate Diffuser) also referred to as a DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) was first introduced to the Isuzu truck range in 2007 in order to meet Euro IV emissions standards. From 2011 to 2016 the system was retained with slight ‘improvements' to meet the stricter Euro V standard.
The Diesel Particulate Filter, commonly referred to as the DPF, can turn into one of the most frustrating parts of maintaining your '08-'10 Isuzu NPR medium-duty truck if it isn't properly taken care of.
The DPF is an emission filter that reburns Particulate Matter (PM) much like a Catalytic Converter (CC) does. It traps soot and other particles, however the DPF has a limited capacity and also has a tendency to stop up very easily, resulting in a part that requires a considerable amount of care. Switching your medium-duty truck into DPF Regen mode allows the DPF to burn off the soot and ash, resulting in a cleaner running filter. This procedure is designed for medium-duty trucks that do not normally operate in conditions that make automatic regeneration possible, such as the '08-'10 Isuzu NPR model. During this mode it is important to remember:
- Don't leave the Isuzu box truck during regeneration.
- Make sure that there are no flammables near the muffler, DPF, or exhaust pipe which may result in a fire.
- Remember that the temperature of the exhaust gases are high enough to burn you.

Follow these step by step instructions:
- Stop the medium-duty truck at a safe place free of flammable material such as dead leaves, grass, or waste paper.
- Move the selector level into the 'P' position and firmly engage the parking brakes.
- Run the engine at idle. Be sure the accelerator pedal is not depressed and the PTO switch (if equipped) is OFF.
- Press and hold the DPF switch until the amber checking PM Level indicator light appears on the MID.
- If 'Selectable' regeneration is available, the selectable (switch) regeneration required warning light (amber) will appear on the MID. If this indicator light does not appear on the MID, the PM level in the DPF filter is OK and DPF regeneration is not needed at this time.
- Press and release the DPF switch to begin regeneration.
- The selectable (switch) regeneration required warning light (amber) will change to regeneration in process indicator light.
- Do not leave the mid-sized box truck during the regeneration. Regeneration normally completes in about 20 minutes, if the engine is at operating temperature. Regeneration may take longer if the engine is cold.
- When the regeneration in progress indicator light goes out, the 'Selectable' regeneration is complete.
Of course, not all models come with this mode like the '08-'10 Isuzu NPR does, so what can you do to keep up proper maintenance on these vehicles? Most dealerships have diagnostic tools with which they can test your truck's DPF status, and check PM levels. If your DPF indicator light (amber) is on, it is in your best interest to take it to them right away to have it looked at and cleaned.

Proper maintenance is key to keeping your DPF free of clogging and saving yourself money in the long run. For starters, it is always beneficial to be using clean fuel in your truck, or by adding the additive Lucas Diesel Deep Clean. Empire earth 2 lan hack.

It is important to keep an eye on your DPF indicator light in your '08-'10 Isuzu NPR medium-duty truck, if it turns red, you may be in some very costly trouble. When your DPF is red, your truck will go into 'Low Power Mode,' causing it to force your truck to run at a low rate of miles per hour (MPH). This can be particularly bad if this happens to you while driving on the Interstate, chopping your speed down to 40-50 MPH. It is recommended to go directly to your truck's closest dealership to have the problem addressed. The cost to fixed a clogged DPF can run you anywhere between $2,000-$3,000 dollars for a cleaning, and $5,000-$6,000 for a replacement!
